Thank you for your interest in our Homeschool Programming! Zoocademy is a unique experience for Homeschool students ages 5-18, covering a range of topics in Biology, Zoology, Environmental Science and Conservation. This course runs from September 2016- March 2017.
Students ages 5-12 will meet at the Education Campus at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens once a month. Classes occur during the first full week of each month. Whichever day and time you register for online is the day and time you attend each month.
Available Days and Times
Tuesdays: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Wednesdays: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Wednesdays: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Thursdays: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Fridays: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Students ages 13-18 will attend class once every other month at the Education Campus at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. Classes will met Thursday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in September, November, January and March. Through this course, students will learn about animal behavior research methods and design their own research projects based on observations of Zoo animals. In addition to the scheduled sessions, student will comes to the Zoo on their own and use it as a living classroom to complete their research.
Enrollment is limited to home-schooled children ages 5-18. Children will be enrolled into the appropriate age class based on their age as of September 1, 2016. In accordance with Florida state law, children must be 5 years old on or before September 1st to enroll.
Children are not denied enrollment on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, national origin (ancestry), or disability.
Zoo Members: $140.00 per child
Non-Members: $165.00 per child
When you register for the 2016-2017 classes, you will receive a parent handbook in which you can find the class schedule, or you can click for the 5-12 year olds schedule and for the 13-18 year olds schedule.
Date Change: A program date change must be made in writing by email or fax at least three weeks prior to the September start date. Date changes will incur a $25 rescheduling fee per student.
Cancellation: Cancellations must be received in writing by email or fax at least three weeks prior to the September start date to qualify for a 50% refund. No refunds will be given for cancellations less than three weeks prior to the September start date. Cancellations will incur a $50 processing fee.
