First Saturday Garden Tours

- Meet outside the ticket booths at 8:45 a.m. Tour starts at 9:00 a.m.
- Tour limited to 30 people. Registration ends at 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday before the tour.
- $20 for non-members; $10 for members
- Zoo admission is included in the tour price.

February 6 - Containers for the Cold
Container gardening is not just for warm weather. Come see how we spiced up our dreary winter days with cold defying containers. Walk with us thru the Gardens discussing our cold weather plant choices that we played with this winter.
March 6 - Animals in the Garden
Yes, we gardeners are admitting that there are animals in the Zoo! Join us for a quick paced old-fashioned walking tour of the Zoo. Learn exciting tidbits about the plants, animals, and Zoo history as we explore more than just the Gardens.
April 3 - Water Lovers
Gardening in Florida is not all dry land, some plants like to play in puddles. Come learn what to plant in those pesky spots that just won’t drain. Join us in exploring our ponds and marshes to discuss the plants that like to get their feet wet.
May 1 - Go Native
Natives are not just weedy roadside wildflowers. They are plants of all shapes and sizes that thrive in our hot, humid Florida weather and the feast or famine rains we receive. Come learn which natives will work for you and about the benefits of using them in your home garden.
June 5 - Shade Gardening
Who says nothing grows in the shade?! In these hot Florida summers, shade in the garden is a welcome blessing for you and your plants. Come learn about all the cool plants that will keep you and your garden out of the sun.

Thank you for considering our Garden Tours. Here are a few friendly reminders that will make your tour more pleasant:
- This is a walking tour out in the Gardens. Please dress appropriately and wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Remember your water! You can bring your own or we have several cafés in the Zoo that sell bottled water.
- We will continue with the tour if there is a light rain.
- Updates will be posted on our Web site if there is a change to the tour schedule due to severe weather.
